Monday’s Finish the Story – March 2nd, 2015

Welcome to Mondays Finish the Story! Thanks go out to all who have made this weekly challenge a success!

Mondays Finish the StoryThis week I am offering up something a bit different! Last week I featured an old typewriter, one with a mind of its own. This week’s challenge has true historical significance.  I am featuring a historical marker found in the town of Angels Camp, CA. This marker is significant in that it features Mark Twain’s character Jim Smiley, and a jumping frog, Dan’l Webster! On November 8th, 1865, in the Saturday Press, the newspaper published a story by Twain called “Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog.” Later on this was changed to “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.” This week, I ask that you write about this celebrated man and his frog!

Now are you ready for this challenge? This is a flash fiction challenge where we provide you with a new photo each week, and the first sentence of a story. Your challenge is to finish the story using 100-150 words, not including the sentence provided. Don’t forget to use the opening sentence… This challenge runs from Monday to Sunday.  Get creative and have fun finishing the story!

Please include the photo with your bit of flash and a link back to this post. Do not forget to click on the blue guy and add your link so that others can enjoy your story too!

2015-03-02 - BW BeachamFinish the story begins with:When it came to a challenge, Jim Smiley just had to jump right in!

Please feel free to upload your story by clicking on the little blue fellow below to add your story to the list!

Thank you for participating! I am looking forward to reading your stories and sharing them with others! Be well and stay tuned for next week’s challenge!
