Welcome to Mondays Finish the Story! Thanks go out to all who have made this weekly challenge a success!
This week I am offering up something a bit different! Last week I featured an old typewriter, one with a mind of its own. This week’s challenge has true historical significance. I am featuring a historical marker found in the town of Angels Camp, CA. This marker is significant in that it features Mark Twain’s character Jim Smiley, and a jumping frog, Dan’l Webster! On November 8th, 1865, in the Saturday Press, the newspaper published a story by Twain called “Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog.” Later on this was changed to “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.” This week, I ask that you write about this celebrated man and his frog!
Now are you ready for this challenge? This is a flash fiction challenge where we provide you with a new photo each week, and the first sentence of a story. Your challenge is to finish the story using 100-150 words, not including the sentence provided. Don’t forget to use the opening sentence… This challenge runs from Monday to Sunday. Get creative and have fun finishing the story!
Please include the photo with your bit of flash and a link back to this post. Do not forget to click on the blue guy and add your link so that others can enjoy your story too!
Finish the story begins with: “When it came to a challenge, Jim Smiley just had to jump right in!“
Please feel free to upload your story by clicking on the little blue fellow below to add your story to the list!
Thank you for participating! I am looking forward to reading your stories and sharing them with others! Be well and stay tuned for next week’s challenge!
I enjoyed writing my story! Incidentally, I am the first to post this week! Yay!
Have a great week ahead!
A lovely story Anita! 🙂

Hi, I added my story, but I don’t see a link to inlinkz to get the blue frog to my page.
I see that you were able to finally get your link in! Be well and thank you for participating! ^..^
I added my page with the others, but I need the link to add to my home page.
To add the link to your page, open up the MFtS for this week, right click on the URL. Then edit your post in the text writing feature. Click on the link button and paste the URL in the top field. Then click enter. Where the cursor ends up is between two symbols that look like this: ><. In between these two symbols enter the name Mondays Finish the Story, and update your post. This will feature you in the comments section of the weekly challenge. Hope this helps! Be well Phyliss! ^..^
